![]() Tamara Monosoff is the founder and CEO of Mom Inventors Inc., a company with three branded elements: consumer products with the Mom Invented trademark; an online community providing information, interaction and inspiration; and educational offerings for women entrepreneurs produced by the best-selling author, columnist and AOL coach.
With more than 15 years of experience in business operations, program management and corporate communications, Tamara combines strategic vision and entrepreneurial spirit with being a mom to Sophia, 6, and Kiara, 4. Her most recent role as a mom provided the inspiration for Mom Inventors. While simultaneously juggling small children and the product-development process for her award-winning TP Saver, Tamara found the support and guidance of other entrepreneurs invaluable. This spurred her to create a web-based community for other women that provides free resources related to the invention and product-development process, plus a newsletter, message board and online store. Tamara is the best-selling author of two books: The Mom Inventors Handbook: How to Turn Your Great Idea into the Next Big Thing and Secrets of Millionaire Moms: Learn How They Turned Great Ideas into Booming Businesses -- and How You Can Too! She is also the "Ask the Expert" columnist for Entrepreneur.com on the topic of Inventing. She was Working Mother magazine's Hero of the Month in July 2005, was named one of the 10 most Influential Women of the East Bay by the Contra Costa Times in March 2006 and was honored by the Contra Costa Council as the Small Business Person of the Year in 2006. Recently, Tamara was named Woman Entrepreneur of the Year (June 2007) by the East Bay Business Times. Since May 2004, Tamara and her products have been featured on the front pages of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today, as well as the magazines The New Yorker, Time, People, Oprah and Fortune Small Business. She has appeared on ABC's The View, NBC's Today Show and NBC's Nightly News, ABC's Good Morning America Weekend, The Bloomberg Report and BusinessWeek TV, as well as CNN News Live, CNNfn, CNNSaturday, CNNMoney, CNBC's The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, CNBC's The Wall Street Journal Report, AOL, ABC News Now, The WB Network and Inside Edition, along with a variety of local news outlets. Radio appearances include CNN Radio, National Public Radio and BBC-Scotland. Prior to founding Mom Inventors, Tamara worked in Washington, D.C., during the Clinton administration. She was senior communications associate for the President's Initiative on Race at the White House, education director for the President's Commission on White House Fellowships and chief of staff for the Office of Vocational and Adult Education at the U.S. Department of Education. Tamara is a frequent speaker and lecturer on entrepreneurship, and women and leadership. She has a doctorate in international and multicultural education, a master's degree from the University of San Francisco and a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
